EarthCheck Schools Program

The EarthCheck Sustainability Challenge for Schools is a versatile program that encourages school students to monitor and manage their household sustainability online. The program is designed for students at both primary and secondary levels and includes a curriculum based program for teachers.

Students enter their home energy, water and waste information from rates notices, energy bills and this data is then evaluated using the EarthCheck system of environmental measurement.

Benefits of the Program include:
• Curriculum-based, interactive learning experience for students;
• Provides household energy, water and waste to allow comparisons over time;
• Student involvement and participation in a key learning area for subjects including mathematics, science, society and environment and geography;
• Support materials for teachers, including student learning materials and homework sheets;
• Teaching students the value of the environment and helping them better understand their impact;
• Student and parent involvement with positive impacts for a household and community;
• Quantative data collected from the entire school or district to measure progress over time.
