Territorians and the local tourism industry will have a say in the future direction of the Territory's tourism industry as the Government starts developing its next five-year Strategic Plan. Tourism Minister, Malarndirri McCarthy today welcomed EC3 Global as the successful tender to assist with the development of a new tourism strategic plan for the Northern Territory. "A new Strategic Plan is an important part of the Government‟s Territory 2030 Strategy working towards sustainable economic growth and prosperity for the tourism industry in the NT," said Ms McCarthy. "EC3 Global is a highly credible and experienced consulting firm that has produced over fifty tourism strategies and destination management plans in its 22 years of business," Minister McCarthy said. "EC3 Global‟s specialist team offers knowledge and experience in strategy development, product development and distribution, infrastructure planning, economic modelling and tourism policy. "EC3 Global will work with Tourism NT to finalise a consultation plan to incorporate an exciting range of community consultations, which are due to be launched in November." EC3 Global‟s General Manager, Mark Olsen said the cultural and natural experiences offered in the Northern Territory are unique and arguably some of the most compelling globally. "We're looking forward to working alongside the Territory's tourism industry and government to create a future tourism direction that provides visitors from around the world with the opportunity to experience some of Australia's most memorable destinations and activities." Consultations will be held from November 2011 to March 2012 including open regional workshops in Darwin, Nhulunbuy, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and Yulara; small working groups with key stakeholders; an online survey and public submission process, "big talk‟ sessions in select Indigenous communities; and an expert tourism industry panel to market test the strategy. The new Five Year Tourism Strategic Plan is expected to be launched in early 2013. Media Contact:: Ursula Raymond 0457 825 507
